Technical documentation for type examination according to ATEX and IECEx

In this webinar, you will learn how to professionally and completely create a technical description for the type examination for an ATEX or IECEx approval. You will learn which documents are required, which requirements they must fulfil — and how you can simplify and speed up the testing processes with a clear structure.

A central component of the webinar is the presentation of a tried-and-tested template for the technical description, which already meets the expectations of test centres. In addition, you will receive checklists, specific references to standards and a structured folder structure for the digital storage of your project documentation.

What you can expect

In the 90-minute live webinar, you will receive a comprehensive overview of the requirements for technical documentation as part of a type examination in accordance with ATEX and IECEx. You will learn which documents are required, what content and structures are usfull and how these relate to quality monitoring in accordance with EN 80079–34 and IECEx OD017.

Finally, you will have the opportunity to clarify individual concerns in an open Q&A session — directly with an experienced expert inspector.

Objectives of the webinar

The aim of this webinar is to provide you with the necessary knowledge and the appropriate tools to create the technical documentation for an ATEX or IECEx approval independently and in line with the requirements of the inspector. You will learn which documents are required, how to structure them sensibly and which formal and content requirements must be met.

This is not just about theory, but above all about practical implementation: you will receive a tried-and-tested template for the technical description as well as a clearly structured filing logic that you can apply directly to your projects.

After the webinar, you will know exactly which documents are really relevant, why they are necessary and how to prepare them in such a way as to minimise the workload for the inspection body. In this way, you will create the basis for a significantly more efficient approval process — with fewer queries, fewer rework and shorter inspection times.

Content

The webinar will provide you with practical knowledge and directly applicable materials to prepare your technical documentation for the type examination. We will guide you step by step through all relevant areas:

  • Basics of type examination
You will learn what a type examination involves in the context of ATEX and IECEx, which standards apply and how the testing process works.
  • Documentation requirements
Which documents are required? How must they be structured? We show you the essential components of a technical description suitable for testing — focussing on comprehensibility, completeness and traceability.
  • Link to quality monitoring
You will learn about the connection to EN 80079–34 and IECEx OD017 — and understand why the documentation is not only relevant for testing, but also for subsequent production.
  • Presentation of a tried-and-tested template
You will receive a structured and annotated template for the technical description, including checklists, standard references and instructions for use. This was developed on the basis of real test processes.
  • Digital filing structure for your project documentation
You will receive a recommended folder structure that has proven itself in practice and helps you to organise your documents in a clear, auditor-friendly and long-term comprehensible manner.
  • Open Q&A session
At the end of the webinar, we will answer your individual questions and discuss your project documentation.

Documents

After the webinar, all participants will receive comprehensive materials for direct implementation in practice. This includes

  • Seminar slides
All the content of the webinar in a clear format — ideal for reading and passing on within the team.
  • Template for the technical description
A detailed, tried-and-tested Word template as expected by test centres — including comments, standard references and checklists.
  • Structured folder structure
A recommended digital filing structure for the clear organisation of your documents — tailored to the type examination process.

All documents are available to you digitally and can be customised directly to your projects. This means you are optimally prepared — not only for the inspection, but also for queries during production and quality monitoring.
